Citroen India is gearing up for the official launch of its latest coupe-SUV, the Basalt X, on September 5. But ahead of the much-awaited debut, the car has been caught completely undisguised, revealing design cues the brand had been trying to keep under wraps.
Undisguised Spy Shots Reveal Key Details
The upcoming Basalt X, which follows the C3X, was recently spotted during testing. The model featured an all-black paint scheme and proudly carried a Basalt X badge on the tailgate. Apart from these new elements, the SUV appears largely similar to the standard Basalt currently sold in India, at least from the angles seen in the spy shots.
Citroën had been teasing the car in shadowy images to build hype for its launch, but the leaked visuals have given enthusiasts a closer look at the upcoming coupe-SUV well before schedule.
Premium Features Confirmed
Based on earlier teasers, the Citroën Basalt X will come equipped with several premium features designed to elevate the in-cabin experience. These include:
- Cruise control
- Engine start/stop button
- Dashboard with leatherette finish
- 360-degree surround view camera (expected)
Many of these features are likely to make their way into other Citroën models in the future, such as the C3 Aircross.
Advanced Tech and Infotainment
Inside the cabin, the Basalt X promises a modern tech-forward setup. Key highlights include:
- 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- 7-inch color TFT digital display
- Automatic climate control
- Wireless phone charger
These additions are aimed at making the Basalt X a strong contender in India’s highly competitive compact SUV market.
Safety First: Packed With Protections
Safety has also been given priority, with the Basalt X expected to feature:
- Six airbags
- ABS with EBD
- Hill hold assist
- Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
- Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
- Other essential driver-assistance systems
These features will put the Basalt X on par with segment rivals in terms of passenger safety and convenience.
Engine and Performance
Under the hood, the Basalt X is likely to continue with the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that powers the standard Basalt. This engine delivers 108 bhp and up to 205 Nm of torque, depending on the transmission option selected.
Launch Event on September 5
The official reveal of the Citroën Basalt X is set for September 5, 2025. With its coupe-inspired design, upgraded features, and proven turbo-petrol engine, the SUV is expected to generate significant interest among Indian buyers looking for style and practicality in a single package.
