I’ve always appreciated Google’s Pixel line, but it wasn’t until last year that the company truly seemed to get things right. The Pixel 9 Pro XL introduced a refined design language, stronger build quality, and addressed several longstanding hardware concerns. However, the underwhelming performance of the Tensor G4 chip meant the 9 Pro XL fell short of being a true flagship.
The Pixel 10 Pro XL changes that narrative. While it retains a design similar to its predecessor—which is a good thing—it now delivers a more polished and premium feel. The Moonstone variant, with its subtle blue sheen and matte texture, feels impressive in hand. While the design does borrow some cues reminiscent of the iPhone, Google’s craftsmanship ensures a solid presence and exceptional build quality.
Distinctive Google Design, With Minor Quirks
The signature rear camera bar continues to give the Pixel a recognizable look while preventing wobbling when placed on a flat surface. The only downside? At 232g, the 10 Pro XL is heavier than last year’s model and the Galaxy S25 Ultra, raising questions about its bulk. Adding a case, like Bellroy’s leather option, pushes the weight above 260g—but thanks to well-balanced weight distribution, daily use remains comfortable.
The phone retains IP68 water and dust resistance, covering the essentials, though it lacks the more advanced IP69 rating found on some competitors.
Performance Upgrades That Matter
The Pixel 10 Pro XL’s OLED panel is the brightest among current smartphones, offering impressive vibrancy and clarity. Unlike previous models, the ambient light sensor works reliably, and the display maintains smooth 120Hz refresh rates.
Under the hood, Google has moved to TSMC’s 3nm process, powering the device with the Tensor G5 chip. The new processor is noticeably faster, using the same Cortex X4 core but with a 3.78GHz clock for efficient performance. Gaming also benefits from the new Imagination Technologies PowerVR DXT-48 GPU, which significantly reduces throttling compared to past Pixels.
While the Tensor G5 still trails Qualcomm and MediaTek in raw power, it manages thermals better and avoids overheating, delivering a solid day-long battery life. Charging remains capped at 45W—a limitation, given modern 100W USB PD 3.0 standards—but the phone also introduces Qi 2 wireless charging integration, supporting up to 25W wirelessly without a case.
Storage has finally received a boost, with 256GB in the base model. However, Google does not offer 512GB or 1TB options in India, instead suggesting its 2TB Google One cloud storage, bundled with one year of Google AI Pro.
Camera Performance Still Impressive
Google’s cameras have always been a strong suit, and the Pixel 10 Pro XL continues that trend. While sensor resolutions have not increased, image quality remains excellent, delivering clean and vibrant photos even in challenging conditions. Video performance has improved with AI-assisted Video Boost, enhancing low-light details. Although it may not surpass high-end competitors like the Vivo X200 Pro or Find X8 Pro, it holds its own against Samsung’s offerings.
Software That Stands Out
The Pixel 10 Pro XL runs Android 16 out of the box and promises seven OS updates. Google’s AI-driven features give the phone an edge, from Magic Cue—which provides contextual information such as flight details or order confirmations—to the fluid, intuitive interface. These small touches make the Pixel experience enjoyable and unique.

Overall, the Pixel 10 Pro XL impresses. While there are minor areas for improvement—charging speeds and camera sensor upgrades, primarily—Google has delivered a flagship that feels complete. From hardware refinements and superior display performance to smarter AI software, the 10 Pro XL cements Google’s ability to make meaningful upgrades that truly matter in everyday use.
