Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the electric GLC SUV at the ongoing IAA Mobility Show in Munich, showcasing its next-generation MB.EA EV-first platform. The luxury EV packs a 94 kWh battery delivering up to 713 km of WLTP-certified range, setting a new benchmark in the segment.
But the real showstopper lies inside—the largest single display ever fitted in a Mercedes, a 39.1-inch Hyperscreen that spans the entire dashboard. Designed with more than 1,000 intelligent LEDs, the display can dim infotainment areas independently of driver information, making it both futuristic and practical.
Powertrain and Performance
The GLC EV will debut as the GLC 400 4MATIC, equipped with dual motors and all-wheel drive (AWD). Together, they produce an impressive 483 hp, enabling speeds beyond 210 km/h. Thanks to its advanced 800-volt architecture, the SUV supports ultra-fast charging, adding up to 303 km of range in just 10 minutes.
Design and Space
While retaining the classic GLC silhouette, the EV introduces striking new details. The front grille doubles as a light show, illuminated by 942 micro LEDs, while star-patterned DRLs and a slim rear light bar give it a futuristic appeal. A subtle roof spoiler and aerodynamic tweaks bring the drag coefficient down to 0.26.
The EV also sits on a 95 mm longer wheelbase than its ICE counterpart, boosting both interior room and cargo capacity. Standard 20-inch alloy wheels enhance its stance, with 21-inch options available for buyers seeking a bolder look.
Cabin and Features
Inside, Mercedes blends high-tech with luxury. Alongside the massive Hyperscreen, the cabin features:
- Digital instrument cluster
- Ambient lighting with over 900 LEDs
- Wireless charging
- Optional S-Class-style air suspension
- Artico/Nappa leather upholstery with carbon fibre accents
- Physical controls on steering wheel and central console
Launch Timeline
The Mercedes GLC EV is slated for a global launch later this year, positioning itself as a key step in Mercedes-Benz’s expanding EQ lineup.
