2 Premium Skoda & Volkswagen Cars Launching In India Soon: Octavia RS & VW Tayron
---Advertisement---

Skoda and Volkswagen are preparing to strengthen their premium car portfolio in India with two exciting new global models. Both cars are set to arrive in the final quarter of 2025, targeting performance lovers and affluent SUV buyers.

While Skoda will bring back the Octavia RS, a sedan beloved by driving enthusiasts, Volkswagen will introduce the Tayron SUV, which replaces the Tiguan Allspace in India. Here’s a closer look at both launches.

Skoda Octavia RS Coming In October

Skoda is gearing up to launch the new Octavia RS in India between mid-October and early November 2025. The high-performance sedan is expected to attract enthusiasts with its sporty design, powerful engine, and premium features.

The Octavia RS is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 261 hp and 370 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and comes with an electronically controlled limited-slip differential for sharper handling.

Performance figures are impressive. The Octavia RS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds and has a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h. To handle this power, Skoda has equipped the sedan with ventilated disc brakes measuring 340 x 30 mm at the front and 310 x 22 mm at the rear.

The new Octavia RS will arrive in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) from Mladá Boleslav in the Czech Republic. This means the sedan will be offered in limited volumes and is expected to carry a premium price tag of around ₹55 lakh (ex-showroom).

Volkswagen Tayron To Replace Tiguan Allspace

Following Skoda’s launch, Volkswagen will introduce the Tayron SUV in India between mid-November and December 2025. The Tayron will act as the successor to the Tiguan Allspace, which was sold briefly in India before being discontinued.

Unlike the Tiguan Allspace that was imported as a CBU, the Tayron will arrive as Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits from Wolfsburg, Germany, and will be assembled locally in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. This move should help Volkswagen price it more competitively.

Bigger Dimensions & Three-Row Layout

The Volkswagen Tayron is a large SUV that measures 4,792 mm in length, 1,853 mm in width, and up to 1,668 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,790 mm, making it more spacious than the Tiguan Allspace.

Globally, the Tayron is available in both five- and seven-seat versions, but reports suggest that India will likely get only the three-row, seven-seat configuration. This setup offers 345 litres of boot space, expandable to 1,905 litres by folding the rear seats.

Engine, Performance & Features

Under the hood, the Tayron is expected to be offered with a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine tuned to deliver 201 hp and 320 Nm of torque. Like the Octavia RS, it will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, while an all-wheel-drive system is also likely to be standard.

In terms of features, Volkswagen is expected to equip the Tayron with:

18-inch alloy wheels

Kick-activated power tailgate

Ventilated and massage function for front seats

12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system

45-watt USB-C fast charging ports

Nine airbags for safety

With this premium equipment list, the Tayron is expected to be priced around ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom).

Final Verdict

Both Skoda and Volkswagen are set to end 2025 on a high note with these premium launches. The Skoda Octavia RS will cater to performance sedan buyers looking for excitement behind the wheel, while the Volkswagen Tayron will appeal to families who want a spacious, feature-loaded SUV.

These two models are also important for Volkswagen Group’s strategy in India as they expand their premium offerings alongside their mass-market cars. While both will come at a premium price point, they are likely to attract affluent customers who value performance, technology, and exclusivity.

With the Octavia RS priced at around ₹55 lakh and the Tayron expected at ₹45 lakh, Skoda and Volkswagen are sending a strong signal that India is ready for more high-end models.
