Triumph Trident 800 Coming Soon: Street Triple 765R To Be Discontinued
---Advertisement---

Triumph is preparing for a major shift in its lineup. The UK-based superbike manufacturer is planning to discontinue the Street Triple 765R worldwide. Reports suggest that the model will soon be replaced by the all-new Trident 800, which was first teased in 2024. The company is expected to continue offering the Street Triple RS, as it has a strong fan base and distinct track-focused appeal.

Street Triple 765R nearing its end

In the UK, several dealerships have started offering heavy discounts on the Street Triple R. Buyers have been told that these discounts will last only until the stock runs out. This move clearly indicates that Triumph is phasing out the 765R. India is also expected to see the same discontinuation soon.

Why is Triumph ending the Street Triple R?

The main reason behind this decision is low demand. Most buyers prefer the Street Triple RS over the R variant. The RS offers better suspension, brakes, and electronics for only a small price difference.

For example, in India, the Street Triple R is priced at ₹10.17 lakh, while the RS costs ₹11.81 lakh. With just a gap of ₹1.64 lakh, most riders find the upgrades on the RS worth the extra money.

Trident 800 to take its place

Triumph plans to fill the gap left by the Street Triple R with the Trident 800. The motorcycle is expected to debut at EICMA 2025 and could launch in 2026. It will sit between the Street Triple and the Trident 660, giving buyers a middle-ground option in terms of performance and pricing.

Key details about the Trident 800

The upcoming Trident 800 will likely use the 798cc inline three-cylinder engine from the Tiger Sport 800. In its current form, this motor delivers 113 bhp and 84 Nm of torque. However, Triumph may tune the engine differently for the Trident 800 to push out more power.

By comparison, the outgoing Street Triple R uses a 765cc inline three-cylinder engine, producing 118 bhp and 80 Nm of torque. The difference in performance numbers is small, making it less practical for Triumph to keep both models in the lineup.

Why the RS will stay

The Street Triple RS will remain in Triumph’s portfolio. The bike is seen as one of the best track machines in its class, with a loyal customer base. This strong following and its unique performance edge make it worth keeping even after the launch of the Trident 800.

Summary: Triumph is phasing out the Street Triple 765R due to low sales and overlapping features with the RS. Its replacement, the Trident 800, is set to arrive by 2026 with a refined 798cc engine. The Street Triple RS will stay, continuing to serve riders who want a focused track machine.
