Kawasaki has unveiled the updated 2026 Ninja 250 and Z250 in Japan — here’s everything you need to know about the brand’s latest 250cc twins.
A Stylish Update for Kawasaki’s 250cc Icons
The wait is over for Kawasaki fans. The company has officially revealed the 2026 versions of the Ninja 250 and Z250 in Japan, and both motorcycles come with a fresh design twist.
While the overall body structure and engine remain the same, the updates focus on cosmetic improvements to keep the bikes looking sharp and modern. The new models will be available for sale in Japan starting November 1, 2025.
New Colours and Refined Design
The 2026 Kawasaki Ninja 250 gets two striking new dual-tone colour options — Metallic Carbon Gray with Metallic Yellowish Green, and Galaxy Silver with Candy Persimmon Red. Both shades give the faired sports bike a more aggressive and stylish appeal that fans of the Ninja series will love.
On the other hand, the 2026 Kawasaki Z250, the streetfighter sibling, comes in a single yet bold shade — Ebony with Metallic Carbon Gray.
Compared to the previous model, the updates include slight changes to the colour tones around the headlamp cowl, fuel tank, shrouds, main frame, and tail section. The graphics have also been redesigned, giving both bikes a fresher, sportier vibe for the new model year.
Engine and Performance: No Changes, Still Strong
Kawasaki has kept the trusted mechanical setup untouched. Both the Ninja 250 and Z250 continue to use the 248cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, which produces 34.5 bhp and 22 Nm of torque.
This engine has built a reputation for being smooth, reliable, and quick to rev — offering a solid balance between performance and everyday usability. Power is delivered through a 6-speed gearbox, ensuring an exciting yet refined riding experience.
Hardware and Handling
Under the skin, both bikes share the same mechanical components. Braking duties are handled by a 310 mm front disc and a 220 mm rear disc, providing confident stopping power.
They also roll on 17-inch alloy wheels, paired with tyres sized 110/70 at the front and 140/70 at the rear. With a seat height of 795 mm and ground clearance of 145 mm, the bikes offer a comfortable riding posture for most riders.
The Ninja 250 tips the scale at 166 kg, while the Z250 is slightly lighter at 164 kg. Both come with a 14-litre fuel tank, offering a decent range for daily rides and weekend getaways alike.
Final Thoughts
With the 2026 Ninja 250 and Z250, Kawasaki continues its tradition of keeping the design fresh while maintaining the trusted performance enthusiasts expect. These updates are subtle but effective — enhancing the bikes’ visual appeal without messing with their proven dynamics.
