Mahindra is preparing a significant update for the XUV700, one of its top-selling SUVs since its 2021 launch. The model recently crossed the 3 lakh cumulative sales milestone, and a facelift is now in advanced testing. Multiple test mules have been spotted over recent months, and using these visuals, automotive designer Pratyush Rout has created detailed renders of the 2026 XUV700 facelift in eight colour options.

Exterior Updates and Safety Enhancements

While the current XUV700 already has a strong road presence, the facelift introduces sharper styling elements. Spy shots suggest updates to the front grille, redesigned lighting signatures, new alloy wheels, and changes to the rear profile.

The SUV is expected to gain refreshed twin-barrel projector headlamps paired with new LED DRLs, giving the front fascia a more modern look.

Safety is also likely to be enhanced. Mahindra may introduce additional Level 2 ADAS features, supplementing existing equipment such as seven airbags, electronic stability control, hill assist, a 360-degree camera, and tyre pressure monitoring.

Interior Changes: Triple Screens, Premium Touchpoints

One of the most prominent upgrades inside is a segment-first triple-screen layout, first seen in the Mahindra XEV 9e. The current XUV700 uses dual 10.25-inch screens, but this new three-display setup offers a more immersive layout and gives the front passenger independent access to infotainment functions.

The facelift will also feature a new steering wheel with an illuminated Mahindra logo, aligning with the company’s push for a more premium cockpit experience. Top variants are expected to continue offering a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear selector, while steering-mounted controls may get a cleaner, more integrated design.

Audio quality receives a notable boost with a 16-speaker Harman Kardon system featuring Dolby Atmos, replacing the existing 12-speaker Sony setup. The current system already offers modes such as Immersive 3D, Stage, Party, and Breezy. The new configuration is expected to elevate in-cabin acoustics even further.

Other updates visible on prototypes include an auto-dimming IRVM, BYOD support for rear passengers, and the possibility of captain seats in select variants.

Powertrain Options Remain Unchanged

Mechanically, the 2026 XUV700 facelift is expected to retain its current engines:

  • 2.0-litre turbo-petrol: 200 PS, 380 Nm; paired with 6-speed manual or automatic transmission
  • 2.2-litre diesel: available in multiple tunes; the higher-spec variant produces 185 PS and up to 450 Nm (automatic)

These powertrains have been key strengths of the model and are likely to continue unchanged.

Launch Timeline

The updated XUV700 is expected to debut in 2026, with Mahindra likely to reveal more details closer to launch. With refreshed styling, a tech-rich cabin, and added safety upgrades, the facelift aims to strengthen the SUV’s position in the highly competitive premium SUV segment.
