OnePlus is gearing up to unveil its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 15, later this October. The device will debut in China before rolling out to global markets, and excitement is already building around its powerful hardware and bold design choices.
Skipping a Number: Why There’s No OnePlus 14
In a move similar to its past strategy, OnePlus is skipping the “14” branding. The OnePlus 13 will be directly succeeded by the OnePlus 15. The company had previously skipped the OnePlus 4, opting instead to launch the OnePlus 5, as the number four is considered unlucky in China.
Design and Durability: A New Standard
Ahead of launch, the brand has teased the ‘Sand Dune’ colour variant on Weibo, while the Indian market will see the same shade branded as ‘Sand Storm’. The phone is said to feature a ceramic-like finish with a smooth, natural texture.
Under the hood, the OnePlus 15 is expected to sport an aerospace-grade nano ceramic metal alloy, which the company claims is 134% stronger than titanium, 223% harder than stainless steel, and 344% more durable than aluminium—making it the toughest OnePlus device ever.
Launch Date Teased
A teaser shared on Weibo showed the date October 27, 2025 displayed on the device’s home screen, strongly suggesting that the OnePlus 15 will launch globally on that day. This aligns with the company’s usual October launch cycle; the OnePlus 13 was unveiled on October 31 last year.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Confirmed
At the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit 2025 in Goa last week, OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu showcased the OnePlus 15, confirming that the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
Built on a 3nm process, the 64-bit octa-core Oryon silicon runs at a peak clock speed of 4.6 GHz, promising a 20% boost in performance and 35% better power efficiency compared to its predecessor. Qualcomm says this translates into nearly two extra hours of gaming time on a smartphone.
The upgraded Adreno GPU brings 23% faster graphics, 20% higher efficiency, and 25% better Ray Tracing, setting the stage for an enhanced mobile gaming experience.

Leaks and teasers point to some impressive hardware:
