BMW Motorrad is gearing up to expand its global adventure motorcycle lineup with the upcoming BMW F 450 GS, which is all set to make its official debut at the 2025 EICMA in Milan. Ahead of the global unveiling, BMW has released a teaser image revealing the ‘F 450’ badge, confirming that the long-rumoured mid-capacity adventure tourer is nearing launch.
New 450cc Engine Co-developed with TVS
The BMW F 450 GS will be powered by an all-new 450cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine — co-developed by BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor Company as part of their ongoing partnership.
This new engine is expected to deliver around 48 hp, placing it squarely in the same performance range as the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and Honda NX500.
Reports also suggest that BMW could introduce a semi-automatic gearbox option alongside the standard manual transmission, offering smoother, clutch-free gear changes — a first in the segment for BMW’s adventure lineup.
Design Inspired by Bigger GS Models
Based on patent images and concept previews, the upcoming F 450 GS will retain many design cues from its concept version. Expect to see a sculpted fuel tank, sharply contoured side fairings, and a pointed front beak reminiscent of BMW’s larger R 1300 GS.
The headlamp design appears to feature X-shaped LED daytime running lights, while the rear section carries a sleek, minimalist tail lamp, enhancing the bike’s sporty, adventure-ready stance.
Chassis, Suspension, and Hardware
The BMW F 450 GS Concept rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels, suggesting a setup that balances on-road comfort with mild off-road capability.
Suspension duties are expected to be managed by upside-down front forks and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. A higher-spec variant could offer fully adjustable suspension to cater to more experienced adventure riders.
Expected Features and Technology
As with BMW’s modern GS range, the new F 450 GS is likely to be packed with advanced features. Expected equipment includes:
- Full-LED lighting setup
- Multiple riding modes
- Cornering ABS
- Traction control
- 6.5-inch TFT instrument display with smartphone connectivity
These features will make the F 450 GS one of the most tech-laden mid-capacity ADVs in its segment.
Expected Rivals and Market Positioning
Once launched, the BMW F 450 GS will take on strong competition in the mid-size adventure segment, including:
- Royal Enfield Himalayan 450
- Honda NX500
- Brixton Crossfire Storr 500
BMW is expected to position the F 450 GS as a premium, globally focused ADV, combining touring comfort with agile handling and class-leading features.
EICMA 2025 Debut Confirmed
The BMW F 450 GS will make its world premiere at EICMA 2025, with global deliveries likely to begin in early 2026. The India launch could follow shortly after, considering the brand’s strong partnership with TVS and the growing demand for mid-capacity adventure motorcycles.
