Kawasaki has turned heads once again! After unveiling the 2026 versions of the Z900 and Z650, the brand has now introduced the all-new 2026 Kawasaki Z900RS — a modern classic inspired by the legendary Z1B from the 1970s.
The new Z900RS and its higher-spec Z900RS SE variant bring a perfect blend of retro charm, modern technology, and boosted performance, making them some of the most exciting neo-retro bikes to hit global markets this year.
A Neo-Retro Icon Reimagined
The Kawasaki Z900RS has always been about heritage — a bike that celebrates the spirit of the Z1 while packing the power and precision of modern engineering.
For 2026, Kawasaki has reworked the formula. The Z900RS now comes with advanced electronics, upgraded equipment, and a few visual tweaks that make it look even more timeless.
While the standard Z900 remains one of the best-selling big bikes in India, the Z900RS hasn’t quite matched its popularity. But that might change soon — the 2026 update gives riders plenty of new reasons to take notice.
Variants and Colors: Z900RS, Z900RS SE, and Black Ball Edition
The 2026 Kawasaki Z900RS family debuts globally in two main variants — the Standard Z900RS and the Z900RS SE — plus a limited Black Ball Edition.
- Standard Z900RS: Available in Candy Tone Red, this version keeps things classic and clean.
 - Z900RS SE: The SE ups the style quotient with Metallic Spark Black paint, orange tank accents, and gold-finished wheels and suspension components for a more premium appeal.
 - Black Ball Edition: Finished in a stealthy Ebony black color scheme, this edition takes the “retro meets dark mode” concept to another level.

Each version carries the Z900RS’s signature retro fuel tank design and round headlamp but adds unique touches that set it apart.
New Tech: Ride-by-Wire, Cruise Control, and More
The biggest update for 2026 is the addition of a ride-by-wire throttle system, finally bringing the Z900RS in line with modern superbikes.
This system unlocks Cruise Control — a feature long requested by Z900RS fans — making highway cruising smoother and more effortless.
Also new is a bi-directional quick-shifter, allowing for seamless upshifts and downshifts without using the clutch.
The 2026 Z900RS now also benefits from IMU-based electronic rider aids, including Kawasaki Cornering Management Function, which ensures stable and safe cornering even under heavy braking or acceleration.
Updated Retro Instrument Cluster with Smartphone Connectivity
Kawasaki has kept the analogue twin-pod instrument cluster, staying true to the bike’s vintage DNA.
But don’t be fooled by its old-school look — the dials are now fully digital inside, and the system supports Bluetooth smartphone connectivity through Kawasaki’s Rideology app.
Riders can now view calls, messages, and ride analytics right from the dashboard, blending classic design with modern convenience.
Enhanced Sound and Styling
The 2026 Z900RS lineup also gets a restyled megaphone-style exhaust canister and polished exhaust headers. Kawasaki says the new exhaust tuning delivers a deeper, richer sound — closer to the Z1B’s legendary note.
It’s not just a cosmetic update — the new system improves airflow and heat management, helping the bike sound and perform better.
More Power from the 948cc Engine
Under the skin, the 2026 Kawasaki Z900RS retains its 948cc inline four-cylinder liquid-cooled engine — borrowed from the Z900 — but with a new tune.
The updated motor now produces 116 bhp and 98 Nm of torque, both arriving at higher revs than before. That’s about 5 bhp more power than the 2025 model, though still slightly lower than the standard Z900’s output.
The revised engine mapping focuses on smoother mid-range delivery, making it ideal for both city rides and weekend highway runs.
Premium Suspension and Braking Hardware
The Z900RS continues to feature top-notch components, including:
- 41mm USD front forks (fully adjustable)
 - Rear monoshock suspension
 - Twin 300mm front disc brakes
 - 17-inch alloy wheels with wide tyres

The Z900RS SE variant takes things up a notch with Brembo brakes and an Ohlins rear suspension, offering superior damping and control.
It also comes with a USB Type-C fast charger, adding practicality for long-distance riders.
India Launch Expected Soon
While Kawasaki India has yet to announce an official launch date, sources suggest that the Z900RS and Z900RS SE could arrive in India sometime in mid to late 2026.
Given the rising popularity of retro-inspired motorcycles in India — like the Triumph Speed Twin 900 and the Honda CB1000R — the Z900RS could carve its own niche among enthusiasts who crave retro style with modern performance.
Pricing is expected to sit slightly above the standard Z900, reflecting its premium features and imported build quality.
Final Thoughts: A Modern Classic Evolved
The 2026 Kawasaki Z900RS and Z900RS SE represent the perfect evolution of a modern classic. With added tech, higher performance, and a sharper design, Kawasaki has made the Z900RS more appealing than ever.
