In a major leap for India’s connected car technology, Samsung has rolled out digital car key support for Mahindra’s Electric Origin SUVs — the XEV 9e and BE 6. With this new feature, Galaxy smartphone users can now lock, unlock, and even start their Mahindra eSUVs using nothing but their phones, completely doing away with traditional car keys.
This marks a first-of-its-kind partnership in India, as Mahindra becomes the country’s first automaker to adopt Samsung’s digital car key technology, integrated directly into Samsung Wallet.
How It Works
The feature uses Samsung Wallet to securely store your digital car key on your Galaxy device. Once set up, you can approach your car, tap your phone, and unlock it — no key fob required. You can even share access digitally with trusted family members or friends for a limited time, giving them full key functionality while maintaining complete control.
What Samsung and Mahindra Say
At the feature’s rollout, Madhur Chaturvedi, Senior Director, Services and Apps Business at Samsung India, said:
“We’re thrilled to bring the Samsung Digital Car Key experience to Mahindra eSUV owners. This partnership highlights our mission to create secure, connected experiences for Galaxy users and make everyday activities, like driving, more convenient.”
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive Division and Executive Director at Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd., added:
“Our Electric Origin SUVs — the XEV 9e and BE 6 — already stand out for their advanced design and tech. With Samsung’s Digital Car Key, we’re taking the ownership experience to the next level, ensuring every journey feels seamless and smart.”
Safety First: Backed by Samsung Knox Security
Worried about losing your phone? Samsung’s got you covered. If your Galaxy device is ever lost or stolen, you can use Samsung Find to remotely lock it or wipe all stored data — including your car key.
The system is protected by biometric or PIN authentication, plus Samsung Knox’s defense-grade security, ensuring that only authorized users can access the vehicle.
More Than Just Car Keys
Beyond unlocking your Mahindra, Samsung Wallet serves as a one-stop hub for payment cards, IDs, digital passes, and other keys. Everything is stored securely within the Galaxy ecosystem, offering both convenience and peace of mind.
Coming Soon to India
The digital car key feature for Mahindra’s XEV 9e and BE 6 will be rolled out soon in India, bringing a new level of tech-driven convenience to Galaxy users and Mahindra owners alike.
With this move, Samsung and Mahindra are taking a big step toward a smarter, keyless future — one where your phone becomes the ultimate key to your connected life.
